The total laboratory tests conducted within 24 hours are 3775; of these one-hundred-eighty-five (185) of them are confirmed positive for COVID-19 and the total confirmed cases as of today are 4848. Among the confirmed cases, 47 of them are male and 138 are female and their age ranges from 3 months to 80 years old. One-hundred-eighty-four (184) of the confirmed cases are Ethiopians and one is a foreign national. Among the cases, 160 of them are identified from Addis Ababa (105 returnees in mandatory quarantine), 7 from SNNP region, 7 from Oromia region, 4 from Afar region, 2 from Somali region, 2 from Amhara region, 1 from Tigray region, 1 from Gambella region, and 1 from Harari region.
Among the total laboratory tests conducted, 30 (11 from health facility and 19 from community) of them were from samples collected from dead bodies none of which tested positive for COVID-19.
Furthermore, one-hundred-fifteen (115) people (81 from Addis Ababa, 23 from Amhara region, 6 from Oromia region, 2 from Harari region, 2 from Benishangul Gumuz region and 1 from Tigray region) recovered from the disease bringing the total number of recoveries to 1412.
The Ministerial committee has indorsed a new Directive as per the State of Emergency to prevent, control and minimize the consequence of COVID-19. Accordingly, people who have tested positive can receive home care if they fulfill all of the requirements stated on the directive. Therefore, we would like to emphasize that those who receive home care for COVID-19 should take all necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the disease to other family members.
