Notification Note on COVID-19 Situational Update June-23

The total laboratory tests conducted within 24 hours are 3775; of these one-hundred-eighty-five (185) of them are confirmed positive for COVID-19 and the total confirmed cases as of today are 4848. Among the confirmed cases, 47 of them are male and 138 are female and their age ranges from 3 months to 80 years old. One-hundred-eighty-four  (184) of the confirmed cases are Ethiopians and one is a foreign national. Among the cases, 160 of them are identified from Addis Ababa (105 returnees in mandatory quarantine), 7 from SNNP region, 7 from Oromia region, 4 from Afar region, 2 from Somali region, 2 from Amhara region, 1 from Tigray region, 1 from Gambella region, and 1 from Harari region.

Among the total laboratory tests conducted, 30 (11 from health facility and 19 from community) of them were from samples collected from dead bodies none of which tested positive for COVID-19.

Furthermore, one-hundred-fifteen (115) people (81 from Addis Ababa, 23 from Amhara region, 6 from Oromia region, 2 from Harari region, 2 from Benishangul Gumuz region and 1 from Tigray region) recovered from the disease bringing the total number of recoveries to 1412.

The Ministerial committee has indorsed a new Directive as per the State of Emergency to prevent, control and minimize the consequence of COVID-19. Accordingly, people who have tested positive can receive home care if they fulfill all of the requirements stated on the directive. Therefore, we would like to emphasize that those who receive home care for COVID-19 should take all necessary precautions to prevent the spread of the disease to other family members.

Notification Note on COVID-19 Situational Update June-22

The total laboratory tests conducted within 24 hours are 3238; of these one-hundred-thirty-one (131) of them are confirmed positive for COVID-19 and the total confirmed cases as of today are 4663. Among the confirmed cases, 94 of them are male and 37 are female and their age ranges from 2 to 80 years old. One-hundred-thirty (130) of the confirmed cases are Ethiopians and one is a foreign national. Among the cases, 98 of them are identified from Addis Ababa, 16 from Oromia region, 4 from Somali region, 3 from Afar region, 3 from Dire Dawa city administration, 3 from SNNP region, 2 from Gambella region, 1 from Amhara region and 1 from Tigray region.

Among the total laboratory tests conducted, 26 (10 from health facility and 16 from community) of them were from samples collected from dead bodies of which an 80-year-old male Addis Ababa resident from community tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the total death related to COVID-19 in our country to seventy-five (75). We would like to pass our condolences to the families.

Furthermore, eighty-four (84) people (79 from Addis Ababa, 2 from Oromia region, 2 from Tigray region and 1 from SNNP region) recovered from the disease bringing the total number of recoveries to 1297.

The number COVID-19 cases are increasing rapidly due to the presence of community transmission. Anyone of us can be the next person to acquire COVID-19, but we can prevent it if we act now. Therefore, let’s support one another in this pandemic reminding others of the recommended preventions could save their lives. We need to practice all of the COVID-19 prevention methods in order to stay alive and healthy.

Notification Note on COVID-19 Situational Update June-21

The total laboratory tests conducted within 24 hours are 4457; of sixty-three (63) of them are confirmed positive for COVID-19 and the total confirmed cases as of today are 4,532. Among the confirmed cases, 42 of them are male and 21 are female and their age ranges from 14 to 76 years old. All of the confirmed cases are Ethiopians. Among the cases, 31 are identified from Addis Ababa, 9 from Somali region, 5 from Oromia region, 4 from Dire Dawa city administration, 4 from Afar region and, 3 from Amhara region, 3 from Gambella region, 2 from SNNPR, 1 from Tigray region and 1 from Harari region.

Among the total laboratory tests conducted, 18 (5 from health facility and 13 from community) of them were from samples collected from dead bodies of which one sample from 75 years old male from Oromia Region was tested positive for COVID-19. In addition, a 34 years old female from Addis Ababa have passed away while receiving treatment making two deaths in the past twenty-four hours due to COVID-19. This brings the total death related to COVID-19 in our country to seventy-four (74). We would like to pass our condolences to the families.

Recently it was announced that Dexamethasone reduces the risk of death among COVID-19 patients who require oxygen and/or mechanical ventilation. Following this, the Ministry of Health recommends the emergency use of low dose Dexamethasone for COVID-19 patients who require oxygen and/or mechanical ventilation for treatment.

However, we should understand that the potential harm may outweigh the benefit if it is taken without prescription by a health professional. Therefore, the public should not take the drug without physician prescription and pharmacies and health professionals should not sell the drug to anyone without a prescription by a health professional.

Furthermore, ninety-one (91) people (67 from Addis Ababa, 16 from Somali region, 4 from Amhara region, 2 from Benshangul Gumuz region and 2 from Oromia region) recovered from the disease bringing the total number of recoveries to 1,213.

Notification Note on COVID-19 Situational Update June-20

The total laboratory tests conducted within 24 hours are 4848; of these three-hundred-ninety-nine (399) of them are confirmed positive for COVID-19 and the total confirmed cases as of today are 4,469. Among the confirmed cases, 195 of them are male and 204 are female and their age ranges from 4 to 85 years old. Among the confirmed cases, 398 are Ethiopians and one is a foreign citizen. Among the cases, 135 of them are identified from Civil Service University quarantine center, 132 from Dewale and Galile quarantine center, 86 from Addis Ababa, 18 Amhara region, 14 from Dire Dawa city administration, 9 from Oromia region, 2 from Tigray region, 1 from SNNPR, 1 from Gambella region and 1 from Somali region.

Among the total laboratory tests conducted, 22 (8 from health facility and 14 from community) of them were from samples collected from dead bodies of which no sample was tested positive for COVID-19.

The total laboratory tests conducted within 24 hours are 4809; of these one-hundred-sixteen (116) of them are confirmed positive for COVID-19 and the total confirmed cases as of today are 4,070. Among the confirmed cases, 76 of them are male and 40 are female and their age ranges from 3 to 78 years old. All of the confirmed cases are Ethiopians. Among the cases, 101 of them are identified from Addis Ababa, 6 from Oromia region, 4 from SNNP region, 1 from Gambella region, 1 from Amhara region, 1 from Tigray region, 1 from Dire Dawa city administration and 1 from Afar region.

Among the total laboratory tests conducted, 37 (24 from health facility and 13 from community) of them were from samples collected from dead bodies of which one from community and one from health facility tested positive for COVID-19. Additionally, five people that were in treatment center have passed away. This brings the total death related to COVID-19 in our country to seventy-two (72). The total laboratory tests conducted within 24 hours are 5102; of these one-hundred-nine (109) of them are confirmed positive for COVID-19 and the total confirmed cases as of today are 3630. Among the confirmed cases, 60 of them are male and 49 are female and their age ranges from 1 to 78 years old. All of the confirmed cases are Ethiopians. Among the cases, 81 of them are identified from Addis Ababa, 9 from Oromia region, 4 from Somali region, 4 from S/N/N/P region, 3 from Amhara region, 3 from Tigray region, 3 from Afar region and 2 from Harari region.

Among the total laboratory tests conducted, 20 (5 from health facility and 15 from community) of them were from samples collected from dead bodies and a 45 years old female Ethiopian from Addis Ababa from the community tested positive for COVID-19. The total laboratory tests conducted within 24 hours are 5636; of these one hundred-seventy-six (176) of them are confirmed positive for COVID-19 and the total confirmed cases as of today are 3,521. Among the confirmed cases, 116 of them are male and 60 are female and their age ranges from 5 to 90 years old. One hundred-seventy-five (175) of the confirmed cases are Ethiopians and one is a foreigner. Among the cases, 98 of them are identified from Addis Ababa, 33 from Amhara region, 31 from Tigray region, 7 from Somali region, 3 from Oromia region, 2 from Dire Dawa city administration and 2 from Afar region.

Among the total laboratory tests conducted, 28 (17 from health facility and 11 from community) of them were from samples collected from dead bodies one of which from health facility tested positive for COVID-19. Among the confirmed cases, 116 of them are male and 63 are female and their age ranges from 2 months to 80 years old. One hundred-seventy-six (176) of the confirmed cases are Ethiopians and three are foreigners. Among the cases, 111 of them are identified from Addis Ababa, 23 from Amhara region, 15 from Oromia region, 11 from Afar region, 9 from Tigray region, 5 from Somali region, 2 from SNNPR region, 2 from Dire Dawa city administration and 1 from Harari region.
